What is the Teaching Methodology?

TALK International does not use the traditional teaching method of focusing on individual language skills (reading, writing, speaking etc).

Our teachers use the "Whole Language" or "Communicative" approach, and set up situations in the classroom which you are likely to face in real life. Students' motivation comes from their desire to communicate in meaningful ways about meaningful topics. Teachers at TALK talk less, students talk more!

Our goal is to draw on the best of both British and American teaching methodology and to provide the right conditions for quick and easy learning:
Small classes
Stimulating instructors
A challenging, nurturing environment
Appropriate levels
Personal assessment and encouragement
Extra-curricular language activities and assignments

How much will I learn?

TALK courses are available at 6 different levels. Your progress will depend on your motivation, your study habits and how similar your own language is to English.

For example, as a beginner, you can expect to get to an elementary level in only 4 weeks! Your progress through each level should take about 16 weeks of study.

How much will I have to study?

Most TALK courses are 20-30 units per week, Monday to Friday. The classes are small (average 12 students, maximum 15), and the teaching is fast-paced. You will be expected to come to every class, to contribute actively to the lesson, to complete homework assignments and to use only English while in the school.

A TALK course is an intensive language-learning experience. Every aspect of your stay with us - your classes, accommodation and free time activities, are intended to have you use your English to the maximum.
